A little background

I have many passions in life but my two greatest passions are art and caring for people. When I was growing up I had a dream of becoming an artist. Back then the idea of having a career as an artist was considered impractical. I was told that it was impossible to make a living as an artist and I was encouraged to consider an alternative career choice. So I turned to my other passion, caring for people and I become a therapist.

The process of becoming a mental health therapist, as you can imagine, is quite lengthy. However, throughout the program you really do learn a lot about yourself.  For me, what kept coming to the surface was my struggle with anxiety. I had a lot of anxiety growing up and I carried that anxiety into my adult life. Through my process of becoming a therapist I learn the skills to change my thoughts and behaviors associated with anxiety that were impeding my ability to foster. I learned how to manage my anxiety. What the program didn’t give me was a way to manage my life. That I got from a life coach.

Becoming a therapist

When I became a therapist I had the pleasure of working with children and adults with a range of clinical disorders. One advantage of working with children is that I have an opportunity to also listen to mothers describe their challenges of caring for a family and holding down a job, while trying to care for themselves.

I would listen to women talk about feeling stressed, overwhelmed and tired. They would talk about wanting more for themselves and their families but not knowing how they would do it or how they would balance it all. These women did not have clinical disorders but they were struggling to create balance and harmony in their life.

Life Coaching

I began offering life coaching as a means of helping women who were looking for guidance and support but didn’t need therapy. Because of my education and training I chose to focus on the area of emotional wellness. I believe our emotions guide us in the choices and decisions we make. Everything is connected; our thoughts, our feelings and our behaviors.

If you are currently struggling with anxiety, stress, overwhelm or just wanting more from life but you’re not sure where to start or how to get what you want in life, I would be honored to guide and support you on your journey.
